J looked at the cups and immediately got to work building "the tallest tower."
"It's gonna be the biggest tower! It will be so tall."
"I don't want it to fall. I don't think it will."
Next thing J knew, the tower fell over.
"Oh man! It fell! I can just do it again."
J started again.
"Can I use a chair so I can get it higher?"
She pulled a chair out to place the next cup. It wobbled, but stayed.
"It's working!"
J gingerly put the next cup on. The tower wobbled again. She froze and watched as it finally settled.
"Yeah, yeah yeah! It's working!"
By the time J put the 7th cup on, she felt confident it wouldn't fall over. As soon as she lifted her fingers from the cup, the tower came crashing down.
"Oh no! It won't stay up!"
J began once more. She started building by alternating the way the cups sat on one another.
"Look, look! It's working, it's getting so tall!"
J placed the purple cup on top of yellow one. It wobbled, it wiggled, but it didn't fall down. Not yet. It wasn't until another friend came over and accidentally bumped into the table. In the next few seconds the whole tower fell over.
J giggled and decided that it wasn't a big deal that it fell over and she could try again later or maybe another day. She happily stacked the cups back up and started on a different game. What flexible thinking!
