The Hole in the Log

"I found something! I found something!"

L ran over carrying a round log with a giant hole in the middle.

"Look it is a hole."

L picked it up and drew the attention from another friend in the Magnolia class.
"L I can see you in the hole!"

She bent down and peered through the space in the log.

"I can see something! I can see you too!"

The two looked at each other through the hole and started giggling.

A friend from Dogwood noticed the commotion and saw the hole and had a different idea on what to do with the log.

"Look you can put it on a stick like this!"

She strung the log onto the stick like a bead on a string. The two of them laughed at how well it was staying on until the stick cracked and the log tumbled to the ground.

By now M joined both S and L and saw what happened.

"It looks like the moon!" he exclaimed encouragingly.

"The moon is a circle."

"Not all the time. It sometimes looks like that too!"

The kids talked about how the log transformed from one shape to another by accident but never seemed too disturbed by the incident. They quickly moved on and continued to search around the forest for more exciting forest treasures.

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Creek Time

Happy Tuesday! We spent our entire afternoon out at Larson Park! It was definitely a hot one so when the kids heard we were going to get to play in the creek, they screamed in excitement. Not everyone wanted to stomp around in the shallow water and that was a-okay. Such a fun afternoon splashing around, exploring, and doing a great job sticking together as a class!

Rainbow Snow!

The Pine kids wrapped up their week with playing in the snow! Unfortunately, it is just a wee bit too cold to be playing outside. I do appreciate all of the kids wearing snow boots, coats, hats, and gloves though! It's helpful for the days in which we do decide to take a quick walk around the block 😊 Instead of playing in the snow outside, we brought it inside! Snow is fun to play in, but we couldn't really build a snowman, throw it around, or make snowballs.. what could we do?! Then it dawned on us, let's paint it! We got out some water colors, eye droppers, and a big pile of snow and the kids went to town. They used their knowledge of mixing colors to create new ones as they dropped them onto the white snow. "It's so cold!" "Look, look, I am making it pink!" "It's blue snow!" They giggled and laughed as the slow melting snow absorbed the bright vibrant colors. It hardly looked like snow anymore!
