Strong Bodies

This whole week the kids have been so excited to push each other around in the laundry baskets, but today they really wanted to test their strength!
"Pushing kids around is too easy. I want it to be harder."
"Yeah, it needs to be really heavy to make it hard!"
"I am so strong and I want to show everyone."

We looked around the room and noticed the logs sitting next to the bookshelf.
"We can use those! They are going to be so heavy."

We started loading up the two logs we have in our classroom.
"These will still be too easy. We need more."

We headed to Magnolia to ask for some more logs. Now with 5 logs, they surely thought it would be too heavy to move.

S, L, & M did their best to push the heavy basket across the carpet.
"This is not that easy."
"Yeah it is really heavy with 5."
"It was easier to push 4 than it was 5."
"We have such strong muscles to push all of these logs!"
"I think we could push even more."

B brought in a book pertaining to bodies so we were able to learn a little bit more about our bodies and all of the great things they do for us. We talked about what it takes to have a strong body and how there are all kinds of exercises we can do in order to make them strong.

Please take care of those strong bodies over break! Have a great week and see you all when you get back!

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Today was “the most amazing day” according to one friend! Thanks to PAT for leaving the glow party up for us! We also started working on a project that combines letters and numbers, it’s called a graph.

Families

Today our conversation regarding our skin color continued, but evolved a little bit. Instead of just talking about our own skin, the kids started talking about their families.  "Well, I have brown skin and so does my mom and my brother. My dad has white skin!"  "My mom and I are white, and my dad and sister are really tan!" "My family all has brown skin like me. My mom is a little different brown though. My baby sisters look like me!" We got out the skin tone colored crayons and the kids carefully chose the colors they needed to represent their families.  "I need the tan ones because I am kind of tan and so is my mom. My dad and sister are darker than us so I need to use like a darker brown. I need the black too because they have dark hair. I have brown hair and my mom has like brownish hair but it's also kind of yellow." S worked on her family portrait as well. She, too, noted that she needed different colored cra...
