Cars on the Table

Right away, the boys got down to business after completing their arrival routines. J came to the table first. He noticed it was full of cars, paper, scissors, tape, and blocks. 

"What do we do?" 

He looked around and found some of the cars he likes the most. He started pushing them through the lone tunnel sitting on the table. 

"I want to make a tunnel!"

After some guidance, J was able to pick up the paper and independently cut a pretty straight line across the paper. 

"I did it! I made it! I need tape."

J took a minute and with some help was able to tape down the two ends of his paper strip and create a tunnel.

"I want to make more!" 


With a little bit of problem solving and some guidance, J was able to make straight lines using a block and a marker. He then picked up the paper and cut down the fresh black lines. 
"I am cutting it so fast!"





J had successfully created several different tunnels his cars could zoom through. He concentrated so hard to cut, tape, and finally admiring his work. So cool!

On the other side of the table, L was concentrating hard to make a tape road. He included some real life details by adding the lines that run down the center of streets,


"Look I am making a road to the construction site!"




L continued to ask for pieces of tape then drawing lines down the center. 
"It's going to be a long road. No bad guys will get the other cars though! This is only for the good guys."

L also squeezed in some time to build a huge tower. 
"It's the construction site. All the cars are going to go on this road to get to the construction site like this."


Cars have always been a huge hit with L & J. The Pine teachers are always looking for new ways in incorporate their love for cars into different activities. The small city they have created will be a semi-permanent structure on the table for the remainder of their interest in it. I can't wait to see what they decide to add, change, or take away!

 Today was “the most amazing day” according to one friend! Thanks to PAT for leaving the glow party up for us! We also started working on a project that combines letters and numbers, it’s called a graph. 

Not a Box!

Good  morning! Today, Ms. Kim is going to show you what she did with a box she found at home. She demonstrates using the core words and even has a special guest to help her with the video. Have you figured out what to do with a box you have at your house? What did you make? What can you make?  We are loving all of the different things some of you have made out of boxes! Keep those creative ideas flowing!!
