Communities Connected

Did you know we have a class that comes in the morning? This isn't something we often talk about in the classroom simply because we are working on two different things! Today, however, we had the opportunity to connect with our AM class in the forest!

How do we bridge community? How do we bring the AM class and the PM classes together without actually having to be together? Well, I will tell you just one way we decided to start bringing our two classes together. This morning our AM boys painted some rocks and then hid them among the greenery, logs, and trees. The intention was to have our PM friends then go and try and find the rocks!

All was going well, until we could NOT find the blue rock... where did the blue rock go?
"We can't find it. It's lost!"
"We have the purple, pink, and orange, but no blue!"

This was unexpected! Where could it possible be? It took a bit of asking around, but we found out that the Sycamore class found the blue rock this morning!

Here we were trying to connect our two small classes together, but unbeknownst to us we connected with another class in the school! How cool! The kids decided that since other classes were enjoying hiding and finding the rock that we could just leave them there.

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Rainbow Snow!

The Pine kids wrapped up their week with playing in the snow! Unfortunately, it is just a wee bit too cold to be playing outside. I do appreciate all of the kids wearing snow boots, coats, hats, and gloves though! It's helpful for the days in which we do decide to take a quick walk around the block 😊 Instead of playing in the snow outside, we brought it inside! Snow is fun to play in, but we couldn't really build a snowman, throw it around, or make snowballs.. what could we do?! Then it dawned on us, let's paint it! We got out some water colors, eye droppers, and a big pile of snow and the kids went to town. They used their knowledge of mixing colors to create new ones as they dropped them onto the white snow.  "It's so cold!" "Look, look, I am making it pink!" "It's blue snow!" They giggled and laughed as the slow melting snow absorbed the bright vibrant colors. It hardly looked like snow anymore! This was a great way to incorporate...

Celebration!

Happy Monday! Today we started something new before dismissing to go home. Instead of reading a book or shaking our sillies out, we are going to start celebrating our successes for the day! We start off by dancing to Kool & The Gang's "Celebration" and then move into talking about something to celebrate that happened at school. Because it was the first day, it was a little difficult to think of something to celebrate. I imagine by Thursday the ideas will be flowing! Enjoy the dance party from today's first celebration!
