"Spray the Germs Away!"

To end our week this week, we played with some friends from the Dogwood class outside in the cave area. The boys played hard by jumping off the cave, running back and forth, and getting to do some different kind of painting.

L and J picked up different colored spray bottles and began "painting" the coffee filters clipped on the rope.

"We have to spray away the germs!" L yelled. The boys began to furiously spray each filter.

"Go away germs!" J followed as he used the squirt bottle to cover the bright white filter with a new color.

"All the germs have to go away. We use the sprayer to make them go!"

"Yeah and wash our hands!"

"I wear a mask because the germs"

"I don't have my mask!"

"It's okay, we are outside. I think your mask is somewhere else."

All week the boys have done such an incredible job wearing there masks and remembering to put them back on after taking a break, drinking water, or eating snack. We talk a lot about the germs and how wearing masks and cleaning helps keep them away. At first, when the boys started spraying I was having a hard time connecting the dots between the colored water being sprayed and germs. Then it hit me! The boys help us clean in the classroom after we play with toys. They watch as we spray the cleaning solution onto the tables before and after we use them. Of course they are associating spray bottles with making germs go away!

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Rainbow Snow!

The Pine kids wrapped up their week with playing in the snow! Unfortunately, it is just a wee bit too cold to be playing outside. I do appreciate all of the kids wearing snow boots, coats, hats, and gloves though! It's helpful for the days in which we do decide to take a quick walk around the block 😊 Instead of playing in the snow outside, we brought it inside! Snow is fun to play in, but we couldn't really build a snowman, throw it around, or make snowballs.. what could we do?! Then it dawned on us, let's paint it! We got out some water colors, eye droppers, and a big pile of snow and the kids went to town. They used their knowledge of mixing colors to create new ones as they dropped them onto the white snow. "It's so cold!" "Look, look, I am making it pink!" "It's blue snow!" They giggled and laughed as the slow melting snow absorbed the bright vibrant colors. It hardly looked like snow anymore! Can you believe we are down to our final week??!!! Lot's of fun happening! Mon-bring favorite stuffie Tues-PJ day & bring a stuffie if you forgot to yesterday! Wed- bday celebration: please wear his favorite color yellow, favorite movies Cars and Harry Potter, other favorites are trains, dinos, and sharks Thurs- we would like to have a water day, stay tuned for more details
