"We Need a Stop Light!"

This Tuesday afternoon we moved our bodies SO much! Not only did we have a great time working on our self regulation with Ms. Julie, we also started a project to help us really focus on stop and go!

One of our favorite games to play in the Pine class is red light/green light. Sometimes though, some friends have a hard time stopping when they hear the word, "stop!" We chatted as a class and decided that a good solution would be to create our own stoplight!

In order to do so the kids pointed out we needed two colors: red and green. We got right to work! While they painted, they had some conversation:

"We have to make it green because green means go."

"Yeah, green is go!"

"But we need red too."

"Red means stop! I think we can do it on the other side."

"What about yellow?"

"Um, I don't know where to put that."

Unfortunately it didn't dry in time for us to use it, so we will be waiting until tomorrow. At the snack table we chatted a bit more about what else we could add.

"We need letters!"

"Stop goes on red and go goes on green!"

Can't wait to continue our small project to really practice our "go" and "stop."

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Rainbow Snow!

The Pine kids wrapped up their week with playing in the snow! Unfortunately, it is just a wee bit too cold to be playing outside. I do appreciate all of the kids wearing snow boots, coats, hats, and gloves though! It's helpful for the days in which we do decide to take a quick walk around the block 😊 Instead of playing in the snow outside, we brought it inside! Snow is fun to play in, but we couldn't really build a snowman, throw it around, or make snowballs.. what could we do?! Then it dawned on us, let's paint it! We got out some water colors, eye droppers, and a big pile of snow and the kids went to town. They used their knowledge of mixing colors to create new ones as they dropped them onto the white snow.  "It's so cold!" "Look, look, I am making it pink!" "It's blue snow!" They giggled and laughed as the slow melting snow absorbed the bright vibrant colors. It hardly looked like snow anymore! This was a great way to incorporate...
