Grasshopper at the Sculpture Park

We took advantage of the warmer weather and walked all the way to the Sculpture Park with Dogwood! The kids were quite excited to go play at another space today with one another. The Sculpture Park is always an intriguing place because of the giant mosaic bird right in the middle! Every kid immediately runs to it and begins to climb around and look at all of the beautiful tiles.

While climbing around today though, L noticed a teeny tiny friend hanging out.

"LOOK! It's a grasshopper!"

L got super excited and began telling the others about what he saw. He attempted to have the grasshopper climb on his finger, but the poor little thing got spooked and jumped right onto my shoulder! I screamed, of course, and he then jumped into the surrounding grass.

From there, the kids continued to play like the small insect they observed. They all began hopping around the grass, pretending to eat, and take rests.

It's fun to watch kids engage in pretend play, especially like something they just experienced. Instead of becoming upset that the insect hopped away, they made a game out of it. So clever! Such a great way to spend our afternoon.

We will see you all on Wednesday!

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Happy First Day of School 24-25!

Welcome Pine Families to our 24-25 school year! We are so happy to have your kiddos back in our room. It is so amazing to see how much they have grown physically AND socially, emotionally, and academically!

Welcome back!!

I hope you all enjoyed your long break together. We are back at it with our same centers and focus words UP and DOWN. This will be the last week for our current activities and will change it up for the last 2 weeks before our next BIG break. Only 12 days left together for the year and we are counting down!  Please help us celebrate:  Pine’s Friendsgiving Feast! Your kiddos have been hard at work filling each other's buckets through acts of kindness. They earned a special celebration before the Thanksgiving break but we held off our celebration so all friends could participate. Today we read a book called Feast for 10 and were inspired by some ingredients. If you would like to help us celebrate our friendship and donate to our feast, we would love it! Our plan is to celebrate on Thursday Dec 5th. Thanks :) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Zu9-130U8W6xGWiNsdlLMXYA9q8yOASwtSEybrST3Rc/edit?usp=sharing
