How Far Will It Fly?

Continuing on our paper airplane construction yesterday, the kids were anxious to get them back in their hands and have them sail through the wind tunnel! They each picked out their planes from yesterday since most of them either wrote their names or made a particular mark so they knew it was theirs.

L asked if we could use the meter stick in order to help get some of the planes that were getting stuck out. A good solution, but today not many of the planes were getting stuck so it wasn't serving that purpose anymore. They did notice though that there were numbers.

"Why are there numbers?"

Ms. Margie quickly explained that we can use it to measure. This gave them an idea!

For the next 10 minutes or so the kids would take turns putting the planes into the tunnel, seeing where it landed, and then reading off the numbers it landed by. It was such a fun way for them to stay engaged and make a little more purpose of out the wind tunnel play.

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Not everyone wanted to stomp around in the shallow water and that was a-okay. Such a fun afternoon splashing around, exploring, and doing a great job sticking together as a class!

Tree Swing

The Pine kids were SO excited to get back to the forest today. Because S spends the beginning of her day in another classroom, she was already familiar with a coveted branch that hung low enough for the kids to try and swing on.  "There's a tree swing at the forest, we should all do it!" S, who seemed to display a high level of confidence, took a hold of the branch as R handed it to her. She took a deep breath and jumped off the log.  S swung with grace over the ground.  The others watched in awe and quickly lined up to take turns.  Each friend took a different approach and not always quite sure on how to get the same kind of lift and swing S did. W seemed unsure on the whole activity, but was willing to try. He couldn't quite get the desired swinging motion and lost interest after his first try.  L saw how the others were swinging and although a little scared, decided to try several times in a row be...
