Making Faces

Oops! I accidentally posted this in the AM blog... here is yesterday's blog post!

The kids have been really into drawing lately and it has transpired into a number of different creations. They have mostly focused on making basic drawings of people that contain one big circle body, two arms, two legs, and a happy face inside. How can we incorporate more detail? How can we encourage more intricate drawings?

Today we tried mixing it up a little bit. The kids were provided a bunch of different kinds of facial features cut out from a magazine. It allowed for them to choose which eyes, ears, mouths, and noses they wanted for their person! They were cracking up putting cat ears on a person's head or replacing a human nose with a dog nose. Too funny!

It inspired some more drawing at the end of our day where we worked as a class to draw different kinds of emotions. Each kid had a chance to pick a face at random and have their friends contribute a part of the face. It was a little rocky at first, but after a few rounds they were able to sit and watch one another add the frowning or smiling mouth, furrowed brows, and even worried or happy looking eyes.

Since being back, the kids are adjusting to being back with friends and remembering expectations. These simple games that have everyone contribute to the same project have been very uplifting and encouraging.

End of the year!

Welcome back!!

I hope you all enjoyed your long break together. We are back at it with our same centers and focus words UP and DOWN. This will be the last week for our current activities and will change it up for the last 2 weeks before our next BIG break. Only 12 days left together for the year and we are counting down!  Please help us celebrate:  Pine’s Friendsgiving Feast! Your kiddos have been hard at work filling each other's buckets through acts of kindness. They earned a special celebration before the Thanksgiving break but we held off our celebration so all friends could participate. Today we read a book called Feast for 10 and were inspired by some ingredients. If you would like to help us celebrate our friendship and donate to our feast, we would love it! Our plan is to celebrate on Thursday Dec 5th. Thanks :) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Zu9-130U8W6xGWiNsdlLMXYA9q8yOASwtSEybrST3Rc/edit?usp=sharing

Happy Wednesday!

Today was super fun not only with Ms.Amy, but we had a special visitor on the playscape…an orange cat!
