Sculpture Park!!

What a gorgeous day to spend outside! We couldn't miss the opportunity to visit one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood this afternoon. Not only did everyone get a good dose of vitamin D, we also got to expand on some of our conversations regarding birds.

The kids remembered that the sculpture park has a giant mosaic bird that is by far their favorite thing to climb on and that gave us another idea... what if we tried to find birds while we were there? Before we left you will notice L in the beginning of the video talking about different homes animals live in- way to connect some dots, L!

We packed up the backpack with some trusty binoculars and got to work! Once we arrived the kids were anxious to peer into the bright blue sky and look for some birds. Unfortunately, we did a lot of listening before we saw one... one little bird that was creeping along the dirt.

"He's digging!"
"I think he's hungry!"
"Maybe he found a worm."

"Birds like to dig!"

"Why is he on the ground? Birds fly!"

It was a great day full of joy!

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Not everyone wanted to stomp around in the shallow water and that was a-okay. Such a fun afternoon splashing around, exploring, and doing a great job sticking together as a class!

Tree Swing

The Pine kids were SO excited to get back to the forest today. Because S spends the beginning of her day in another classroom, she was already familiar with a coveted branch that hung low enough for the kids to try and swing on.  "There's a tree swing at the forest, we should all do it!" S, who seemed to display a high level of confidence, took a hold of the branch as R handed it to her. She took a deep breath and jumped off the log.  S swung with grace over the ground.  The others watched in awe and quickly lined up to take turns.  Each friend took a different approach and not always quite sure on how to get the same kind of lift and swing S did. W seemed unsure on the whole activity, but was willing to try. He couldn't quite get the desired swinging motion and lost interest after his first try.  L saw how the others were swinging and although a little scared, decided to try several times in a row be...
