Familiar Face

This afternoon at the clay table some friends were creating all kinds of animals including birds, snakes, and made up creatures. As they worked quietly, L began choosing very specific pieces. He continued to roll the clay around in his hands and against the table. He cut pieces of pipecleaner, picked out some googly eyes, and smashed some balls of clay together.

"Look! I'm making J!"

Everyone looked up and watched as L presented his creation of J.

"That's ME?!" J asked.

"Yeah, look, you are flying!"

L began guiding the clay creation around in the air like he was flying. J watched in awe and smiled.

Such a sweet moment in our class today! The clay table has been their favorite this week and love creating all kinds of things. Over the week we have saved the creations and are allowing ample drying time to paint next week.

Have a great weekend!

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Tree Swing

The Pine kids were SO excited to get back to the forest today. Because S spends the beginning of her day in another classroom, she was already familiar with a coveted branch that hung low enough for the kids to try and swing on.  "There's a tree swing at the forest, we should all do it!" S, who seemed to display a high level of confidence, took a hold of the branch as R handed it to her. She took a deep breath and jumped off the log.  S swung with grace over the ground.  The others watched in awe and quickly lined up to take turns.  Each friend took a different approach and not always quite sure on how to get the same kind of lift and swing S did. W seemed unsure on the whole activity, but was willing to try. He couldn't quite get the desired swinging motion and lost interest after his first try.  L saw how the others were swinging and although a little scared, decided to try several times in a row be...

Creek Time

Happy Tuesday! We spent our entire afternoon out at Larson Park! It was definitely a hot one so when the kids heard we were going to get to play in the creek, they screamed in excitement. Not everyone wanted to stomp around in the shallow water and that was a-okay. Such a fun afternoon splashing around, exploring, and doing a great job sticking together as a class!
