Little Treasures & Finds

The beauty of playing out on the playscape in different zones is you never really know what you are going to find. Because all the spaces are being shared across all classrooms there are sometimes some left over toys or creations from other classes. Sometimes we just don't know what we will see!

"Look what I found, look what I found!" L came running over holding something round and painted in his hands. It was a painted rock!

"It is blue and purple. This is like treasure!"

"I want to see the treasure!"
"We have to hide it."

The kids gathered around to look at what L was holding between his hands. Unfortunately, I was a little to late with the camera. A few minutes later I heard several squeals coming from the climbing wall.

"A SPIDER!"

L, O, and L were huddled around a part of the wall. They were watching a teeny tiny little spider crawl all around the wall. You can hear more of their conversation regarding the creepy crawly in the video below.

L lost interest in the spider and walked over peering down at the rocks and noticed something blue sticking out.

"What's that?!"

L & O whipped their heads around to see what L found!

"I think it's a dinosaur!"

"I want to find it too!"

"It's like treasure!"

The kids played a kind of hide and find game for several minutes before going off to the next thing. Where did the dinosaur come from? Did another class leave it for someone else to find? Maybe we will never know...

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Creek Time

Happy Tuesday! We spent our entire afternoon out at Larson Park! It was definitely a hot one so when the kids heard we were going to get to play in the creek, they screamed in excitement. Not everyone wanted to stomp around in the shallow water and that was a-okay. Such a fun afternoon splashing around, exploring, and doing a great job sticking together as a class!

Tree Swing

The Pine kids were SO excited to get back to the forest today. Because S spends the beginning of her day in another classroom, she was already familiar with a coveted branch that hung low enough for the kids to try and swing on.  "There's a tree swing at the forest, we should all do it!" S, who seemed to display a high level of confidence, took a hold of the branch as R handed it to her. She took a deep breath and jumped off the log.  S swung with grace over the ground.  The others watched in awe and quickly lined up to take turns.  Each friend took a different approach and not always quite sure on how to get the same kind of lift and swing S did. W seemed unsure on the whole activity, but was willing to try. He couldn't quite get the desired swinging motion and lost interest after his first try.  L saw how the others were swinging and although a little scared, decided to try several times in a row be...
