Happy Last Day of January!

Hello Pine friends, we are celebrating the last day of the month of January. We missed some of you today and our small group wished you well!

We are continuing with our magic words IN and OUT and our good question word WHO? For arrival activities we are still sorting foods by color and putting them IN the correct spot, Potato Heads and putting body parts IN, and playdough and putting pegs IN. Our centers changed this week: Social skills table activity is the game Pop the Pig. We rolled the color cube, identified the color, found a hamburger that matches the color on the cube, looked at the bottom of the burger and read the number. We then put the burger IN the pigs mouth and had to push his head the number of times on the burger. Ask your kiddo what happened when we pushed the pig! For our motor center at the carpet we put snowballs in the snowman but this week we had really work hard. We had to balance on a rocker board reach across our body, use the claw and squeeze to grab the snowball and turn and put the snowball IN the snowman. At group time we practiced writing some more letters! Gross motor time was spent having fun with friends outside since we had some good weather today!

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Digital World

This afternoon the kids settled into different activities after arrival. Some kids found themselves making a whole city with painter's tape roads, some dove into some books to get a good read in, and others tried making all kinds of creations out of legos. It isn't out of the ordinary for the kids to ask if we can play "office." This pretend play cracks us all up because they are clearly imitating many of the same mannerisms they have seen either at home or at school. They pile stacks of papers next to them, lay out a bunch of markers, and start "typing" away on the out of commission computers we have. They talk about all the emails and notes they have to send. They make phone calls to each other and write copious amount of letters to send in the mail. Hilarious! Today, I wanted to test out their letter identification as well as their typing skills they have been showing off these last few months. Creek Time

Happy Tuesday! We spent our entire afternoon out at Larson Park! It was definitely a hot one so when the kids heard we were going to get to play in the creek, they screamed in excitement. Not everyone wanted to stomp around in the shallow water and that was a-okay. Such a fun afternoon splashing around, exploring, and doing a great job sticking together as a class!
