WEDnesDAY

Happy Wednesday Pine Friends! Today we played more with our magic words UP and DOWN and our good question WHO? Our centers helped us practice our letters and letter sounds as well as making our names. We also got a chance to work on our motor skills (coordination, balance, etc.). We are learning some new skills about the books we read: what the story is about, how to retell the story in order (first, next, last; beginning & ending), and WHO the characters are. We played a game with the characters where Ms. Carrie put a few of them on a tray, covered them up, and then when she uncovered them one was missing! We had to figure out WHO was missing. Lastly, we practiced our Earthquake drill. Feel free to discuss this at home so your child feels educated and safe if something like that were to happen. (At school they may announce it or the building might start shaking which could cause things to fall. We then need to crawl under the table and tuck our bodies like a turtle and cover our heads with our hands.)

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Tree Swing

Because S spends the beginning of her day in another classroom, she was already familiar with a coveted branch that hung low enough for the kids to try and swing on.  "There's a tree swing at the forest, we should all do it!" S, who seemed to display a high level of confidence, took a hold of the branch as R handed it to her. She took a deep breath and jumped off the log.  S swung with grace over the ground.  The others watched in awe and quickly lined up to take turns.  Each friend took a different approach and not always quite sure on how to get the same kind of lift and swing S did. W seemed unsure on the whole activity, but was willing to try. He couldn't quite get the desired swinging motion and lost interest after his first try.  L saw how the others were swinging and although a little scared, decided to try several times in a row be...

Creek Time

Happy Tuesday! We spent our entire afternoon out at Larson Park! It was definitely a hot one so when the kids heard we were going to get to play in the creek, they screamed in excitement. Not everyone wanted to stomp around in the shallow water and that was a-okay. Such a fun afternoon splashing around, exploring, and doing a great job sticking together as a class!
