Week 4!

  Hello Pine Family and welcome to week 4 of school! This week we are continuing some of the same fun things we did last week, but of course discovering new things as well. We are practicing our words GO and STOP in various ways: music & movement, stories, and activities. Some friends asked for cars and we explored how to make them STOP and GO. Our invitations for centers included: the sensory table, with a friends treasure hunt using tongs, practicing friend's names and matching; the dramatic play area with office supplies encouraging students to find the letters in their names; and playdough that was colored RED like STOP that we could roll, smash and create with. Our new friend Emmett started in our room today and all friends made sure to make him feel welcome!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Digital World

This afternoon the kids settled into different activities after arrival. Some kids found themselves making a whole city with painter's tape roads, some dove into some books to get a good read in, and others tried making all kinds of creations out of legos. It isn't out of the ordinary for the kids to ask if we can play "office."  This pretend play cracks us all up because they are clearly imitating many of the same mannerisms they have seen either at home or at school. They pile stacks of papers next to them, lay out a bunch of markers, and start "typing" away on the out of commission computers we have. They talk about all the emails and notes they have to send. They make phone calls to each other and write copious amount of letters to send in the mail. Creek Time

  Happy Tuesday! We spent our entire afternoon out at Larson Park! It was definitely a hot one so when the kids heard we were going to get to play in the creek, they screamed in excitement. Not everyone wanted to stomp around in the shallow water and that was a-okay. Such a fun afternoon splashing around, exploring, and doing a great job sticking together as a class!
