Welcome week #8!

Happy Monday Pine Room! Was there a full moon or did everyone have that busy of a weekend? Our friends really had to reacclimate to our school day, but in the end, we all had fun! This week are changing up our focus/magic words to I WANT and WHAT? Our invitations for centers has also changed this week. In our sensory we are exploring fall nature items, ask your kiddo what they saw (leaves, pine cones, acorns). We challenged them to find particular amounts of these items as a sort of scavenger hunt. Another invitation was Fall nature shadow play. We put shapes of fall items on an overhead projector to see what they looked like on the wall and encouraged friends to trace them to create a classroom fall collage. The final invitation offered playdough and tools for friends to create with.

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Rainbow Snow!

The Pine kids wrapped up their week with playing in the snow! Unfortunately, it is just a wee bit too cold to be playing outside. I do appreciate all of the kids wearing snow boots, coats, hats, and gloves though! It's helpful for the days in which we do decide to take a quick walk around the block 😊 Instead of playing in the snow outside, we brought it inside! Snow is fun to play in, but we couldn't really build a snowman, throw it around, or make snowballs.. what could we do?! Then it dawned on us, let's paint it! We got out some water colors, eye droppers, and a big pile of snow and the kids went to town. They used their knowledge of mixing colors to create new ones as they dropped them onto the white snow.  "It's so cold!" "Look, look, I am making it pink!" "It's blue snow!" They giggled and laughed as the slow melting snow absorbed the bright vibrant colors. It hardly looked like snow anymore! This was a great way to incorporate...
