It's the lucky week #13

Hello Pine family! We kicked off week by exploring some new things in our centers. Friends really love the sensory table and today was no exception; ask your kiddo what was in there (beans) and if they LIKE or DO NOT LIKE the items, which was their favorite, what colors they were, etc.  We left no bean untouched: pinto beans, navy beans, light read kidney beans, small red beans, great northern beans, black beans, large lima beans, Mayocoba beans, lentils, red lentils, black eyed peas, and green split peas! We scooped, dumped, poured, filled, emptied, picked up with tongs, stirred, shared, and talked all about what we felt, saw, and heard. Friends worked on matching by attributes: color, size, LIKE/DON'T LIKE, etc. We transformed our dramatic play area into a grocery store! Here we could practice taking turns being customers who shop and cashier who uses the register. We have real food items (and some that look pretty darn real) so that kids can practice identifying environmental print, fruits and vegetables, breakfast foods, things they LIKE and DO NOT LIKE, etc. We also had a scavenger hunt/matching game for friends too. For our art exploration, we explored some color mixing; see if your kiddo can remember the colors red + white = pink. We painted our canvas using different strokes: straight lines, circles, dots, etc. Because it was brrrrrrrr, so cold this morning, we utilized our indoor play space, the Collaboratory, to have our gross motor time.

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Today was “the most amazing day” according to one friend! Thanks to PAT for leaving the glow party up for us! We also started working on a project that combines letters and numbers, it’s called a graph.

Not a Box!

Good  morning! Today, Ms. Kim is going to show you what she did with a box she found at home. She demonstrates using the core words and even has a special guest to help her with the video. Have you figured out what to do with a box you have at your house? What did you make? What can you make?  We are loving all of the different things some of you have made out of boxes! Keep those creative ideas flowing!!
