Happy MAY!

Hello Pine Family! May is here and the countdown is on as the last day of school nears. We want to fill these last days with lots of fun. We will be celebrating birthdays, hosting a parent pop-in, and working on some fun legacy projects.

Join us Wednesday May 3rd at drop off to hang out during our free choice time (12:15-12:40) and play with your kiddo!

PARENTS: You can use this information to help lead conversation with your kiddo by using open ended questions about our discussion!                                                                                                               Today friends noticed that our caterpillars went into their chrysalis over the weekend. Before we left on Thursday we made predictions/guesses on what we would see on Monday: caterpillar, chrysalis or butterfly. 2 friends voted chrysalis and they were right! (this is a good opportunity to discuss that guessing/predicting means we don't know the answer, it is a mystery, and that sometimes we will be right and sometimes wrong, but it is always ok) The conversation continued when a friend asked what the difference is between a chrysalis and a cocoon. We decided to look it up and Google told us the answer: cocoons are for moths and chrysalis' are for butterflies. A friend then asked what the difference between a butterfly and moth is. We again went to Google for the answer and found out the 3 main differences: butterflies are colorful (moths are monochromatic), the antennas are different (butterfly round on the end and moth is strait, and their wings are positioned differently. Friends wanted to see what the difference between moth and butterfly caterpillars are but we ran out of time. We plan on doing more research tomorrow!

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Today was “the most amazing day” according to one friend! Thanks to PAT for leaving the glow party up for us! We also started working on a project that combines letters and numbers, it’s called a graph.

Not a Box!

Good  morning! Today, Ms. Kim is going to show you what she did with a box she found at home. She demonstrates using the core words and even has a special guest to help her with the video. Have you figured out what to do with a box you have at your house? What did you make? What can you make?  We are loving all of the different things some of you have made out of boxes! Keep those creative ideas flowing!!
