Happy Monday

Welcome to week #6! We have some new words of the week we will be practicing: I WANT. These words help your child advocate for things that they want. These words really come in handy when a friend has something that we want to play with, when we want to eat/drink, when we want something that is not currently available, etc. We will practice how to appropriately/kindly ask for things that we want (we have a visual tap/look/ask we will refer to) both directly through reading books, role playing, etc. and indirectly through modeling during play times.

Practicing how to use our school tool scissors and turn our paper scraps into beautiful art!

Some friends really enjoy retelling our story One Duck Stuck

We talked about what we WANT to make with our blocks

Friends continued to practice how to HELP care for animals by pretending to be a veterinarian.

Exploring how shapes can make pictures (of animals). We also noticed some cool color mixing!

A couple friends worked together to create a road for their trucks. When they discovered that the trucks were too big for the road, they used their problem solving skills to ask the teacher for smaller trucks!

We ended our day exploring some new materials and noticed we could make vehicles!

Day 2 Pine Room Fun!

For our invitations we have our small world were we can tell stories about what our families like to do outside. In our dramatic play we are showing how we can care for others, including our baby dolls. Outside we are checking out how fun our giant snail and mud kitchen are.

Rainbow Snow!

The Pine kids wrapped up their week with playing in the snow! Unfortunately, it is just a wee bit too cold to be playing outside. I do appreciate all of the kids wearing snow boots, coats, hats, and gloves though! It's helpful for the days in which we do decide to take a quick walk around the block 😊 Instead of playing in the snow outside, we brought it inside! Snow is fun to play in, but we couldn't really build a snowman, throw it around, or make snowballs.. what could we do?! Then it dawned on us, let's paint it! We got out some water colors, eye droppers, and a big pile of snow and the kids went to town. They used their knowledge of mixing colors to create new ones as they dropped them onto the white snow.  "It's so cold!" "Look, look, I am making it pink!" "It's blue snow!" They giggled and laughed as the slow melting snow absorbed the bright vibrant colors. It hardly looked like snow anymore! This was a great way to incorporate...
